We are announcing our brand new course aimed at those who want to get trained and qualified as well as get expert guidance. Total Electrical Training has always been at the vanguard of renewable energy – we were one of the first centres in the UK to offer Solar PV Training. We are pleased to offer you the chance to gain the knowledge and to get to grips with the design and installation of Electric Vehicle Charging systems.
We will go through, step by step, the special considerations including the full explanation of what is a a charging station, also known as a charge point or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)…… ……….we will also look at earthing to include conductors (PEN) and other areas such as neutral supplies and much more!
We will be taking a close look at the role of the “prosumer” and how that can be integrated within an EV system.

NOTE: This is a recognised OZEV qualification. .
PLEASE NOTE:
To attend this course, you must be a fully experienced and qualified electrician.
You will be expected to use the latest edition of the wiring regulations and the on site guide (18th edition, latest ammendment) and be fully conversant in cable sizing calculations without the use of software.
You will need a copy of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installations, 5th Edition which you can order from us separately when you book the course.
This qualification is aimed at practicing electricians interested in understanding how to design and install the range of electric vehicle charging equipment and systems available. It aims to provide expert guidance to learners wishing to gain further knowledge and understanding of electric vehicle charging equipment design and installation.
Learners must hold the latest 18th Edition qualification:
– C&G 2382-22 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulation
and must hold one of the following qualifications:
– C&G 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)
– C&G 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
– C&G 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification
– C&G 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
– C&G 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification
– Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable
or
– ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card
– and ideally, you should be enrolled onto a competent person’s scheme (e.g NICEIC).

- Scope, Overview of EV charging equipment and arrangements prior to installation commencement (36:32)
- Physical installation requirements and electrical requirements (general) (53:12)
- Cable sizing calculations – this will been done without any cable sizing software
- Electrical requirements (dwelling, on-street, commercial and industrial installations) (43:07)
- Inspection, testing and maintenance requirements; vehicle as storage, DNO notification, integration and smart infrastructure, and annexes A to O (25:57)

The requirements for practical assessments associated with this qualification were modified in October 2023 because of the pre requisite requirements
However, you must be familiar with the principles of inspection and testing i.e,
- C&G 2921 Unit 302
This open-book exam requires the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation. Candidates may also use a non-programmable calculator.
