Fibre optic cabling is the means of sending digital signals along hair like strands of very pure glass! the chances are that as you are viewing this web page, the data is using fibre optic cable somewhere on its journey from our server to your computer or mobile device – now that is amazing!!
Fibre Optic cabling is fast becoming as commonplace as datacabling in the LAN environment, particularly as bandwidth requirements are increasing all the time, as well as the growth in applications.
On this course, we aim to take delegates through the “basics” at an introductory level, together with “live” demonstrations of fibre optic cabling in actions – prepare yourself to be truly inspired.
This 1 day course introduces you to fibre optic cabling and as part of the course, the approach is “blending” both theory and practical sessions together, to give delegates an introduction to installing fibre optic cabling.
This course will benefit anyone who is seeking to acquire additional “added value” skills – learning these techniques and also learning about the “how and why” associated with installing fibre optics is integral to this short course.
The course would also benefit those that are either in a managerial role or are tasked with exploring new business opportunities.
– The theory of Light
– Fibre optic transmission
– The ‘how’ and ‘why’ fibre optic cabling is used in a datacomms environment

– Current standards and terminologies
– Identification of fibre optic components
– Working safely with optical fibres
– Installation procedures and working practices
– Preparation of fibre optic cabling for termination, connectorisation and splicing
