City and Guilds 2382-18: (3 days duration)
City and Guilds 2382-18, is the benchmark qualification for all electricians and electrical engineers who are seeking to achieve certification in the 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
Covering comprehensively the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations, City and Guilds 2382-18 is widely recognised throughout the electrical industry as the “must have” qualification. It is seen by many in the industry as a mandatory requirement showing that a thorough understanding of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations has been achieved.
So whether you are involved in domestic, commercial or industrial electrical installations activities, City and Guilds 2382-18 qualification is widely regarded as a compulsory requirement for anyone involved in the electrical installation industry or is likely to be supervising those that are carrying out electrical installations.
City & Guilds 2393-10: (1 day duration)
City and Guilds 2393-10 is regarded as a benchmark qualification for all electricians or for those who are involved in the domestic electrical installation industry. Widely recognised by the 5 main competent person’s scheme providers as the “must have” qualification, City and Guilds 2393-10 covers the Building Regulations requirements that apply specifically to domestic electrical work. In particular, the course looks in depth at specific aspects of the electrical installation work carried out in a property, and the specific areas that are notifiable to local authority building control, the parts of the Building Regulations, the implementation, procedures that are required to be followed by electricians when installing within a domestic dwelling.
Please note: This course is only applicable to the Building Regulations in England and Wales.
City and Guilds 2392-10 (4 days duration including the practical assessment)
City and Guilds 2392-10 is the qualification which is specifically aimed at electricians and others who have a limited or no experience in carrying out the process of initial verification, which includes carrying out functional testing and interpreting test results. City and Guilds 2392-10 is structured and designed to provide delegates with the skills and underpinning knowledge to confidently undertake the practical assessment.
This City and Guilds 2392-10 course contains a significant number of “hands on” workshop style training sessions, which cover all of the processes involved in initial verification, and functional testing as described in Part 6 of BS7671:2018, and also within IEE Guidance Note 3
City and Guilds 2392-10 references the requirements of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018) and is restricted to initial verification only as described in Part 6, Chapter 64 of BS7671:2018 the 18th edition of the Wiring Regulations.
This 18th Edition electrical course is suitable for anyone who is currently involved in electrical installation work; whether they are engaged in the domestic, industrial or commercial electrical installation industry.
It should be noted that City and Guilds 2392-10 is an excellent preparation for delegates who are considering undertaking the challenges offered by the qualification, City and Guilds 2391-51 Level 3 Award in the Periodic Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations.

City and Guilds 2382-18:
On completion of the 18th edition course, participants will understand:

- How to navigate through the parts and chapters of BS7671:2018
- The 18th edition wiring regulations and it’s relationship with other regulations
- The scope and object and fundamental principles of the Regulations
- The definitions and terms used in the Regulations
- Assessment of general characteristics
- Protection for safety
- Selection and erection of equipment
- Inspection and testing
- Special installations or locations
- The 16 Appendices
In addition, this City and Guilds 2382-18 18th edition course will also describe typical examples of how and where particular items within the 18th Edition of the wiring regulation may be applied.
City & Guilds 2393-10
On completion of the course, participants will understand:
- Scope, purpose and structure of the Building Regulations
- Types of notifiable and non notifiable items
- Building control and inspection
- Building control enforcement
- Compliance with Approved documents: A, B, E, F, L1, M & P
City and Guilds 2392-10
On completion of this part of the “bundled” course, participants will understand:
- Safe isolation
- Overview of Part 6/Chapter 64 BS 7671:2018
- The processes involved in Initial Verification
- The Visual inspection
- The Correct Sequence of Functional Testing
- Carrying out Functional Testing
- Evaluating and interpreting test results
- Completion of the Installation Test Certificates and the Schedules of Tests
City and Guilds 2382-18
All candidates on this City and Guilds 2382-18 18th edition course, are assessed via an examination comprising of 60 multiple choice questions. The examination duration is 2 hours.
This is an “open book” examination and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds e-volve system.
All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.
City & Guilds 2393-10
All candidates are assessed via 20 multiple choice questions – the “open book” examination is carried out as using the computer based City and Guilds e-volve system – all candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.
City and Guilds 2392-10
All candidates undertaking City and Guilds 2392-10 are assessed via 50 multiple choice questions – the examination, which is “closed book”, is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds e-volve system – all candidates are given their examination results at the end of the examination period.
With City and Guilds 2392-10, there is a separate 2 hour practical assessment, which is normally conducted on the 4th day of this part of the bundled course, with any further practical training being conducted to the delegate during this period.
This course is subject to vat and is inclusive of all course materials, examination fees and refreshments.
Publications for this course are sold separately and not included in the price.
This City and Guilds 2382-18 (18th edition), City and Guilds 2392-10 and 2393-10 course leads to fully accredited level’s 2 and level 3 qualifications in the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations BS7671:2018 plus an accredited qualification in initial verification and testing.
For the 18th edition part of this bundled course, delegates are required to have the following books:

IET wiring regulations books taken into examinations can contain the following:
* Bookmarks (eg blank post-it notes or corners of pages folded)
* Highlighting of text
Please note that copies of BS 7671:2018, taken into examinations cannot contain the following:
* Sample exam questions, answers or diagrams
* Any writing in the regulations or accompanying written notes which indicate possible answers within a given section.
* Notes, diagrams or any content that may, in anyway seeks to advantage the candidate in answering questions within the examination.
Delegates are required to have the following books:
- The NIC/ECA Electrical Installers Guide to the Building Regulations

City and Guilds 2392-10 is a fully accredited qualification and is at level 2 .
